The LeBron James Debate

Many thoughts might come into your head when the name LeBron James is mentioned. The greatest or the most over-rated. The 'One' or the failure. Miami might have been celebrating his arrival last summer, but are they still? Sure, had the Heat won the championship this season then all the heckling and negativity, ruined reputations and 'noise' - as Eric Spoelstra put it - would have been worth it. But LeBron still doesn't have a ring on his finger.

For a player who for so many years now has been described as the greatest talent of the modern era, he does not have much to show. He may have single handedly taken the Cavs to the playoffs on a number of occasions and won 2 consecutive MVPs, but any champion will tell you that until you win the game's ultimate prize, there will always be a question mark hanging over your head. Are you a winner?

There is no doubt that LeBron has what it takes when it comes to talent. It seems that it is his head that is letting him down. Despite the self-absorbed fiasco of 'The Decision', underneath it all was a decision based on one goal and one goal only. To win a championship (or 2 or 3 or 8...).

But now it is the end of another season. D-Wade's reputation is in tatters, LeBron even more so, and if Miami is to secure a championship in Year 2, it may help LeBron to look back to when he was at the Cavs, when he was a leader, when it was him or nothing. LeBron needs to have that same attitude next season. He now has the talent around to help save him from a bad game. However he needs to be in control with the ball in his hand. He needs to be The King.

What do you think?
